BaoQi – Vegan Banh Mi in Yaletown!

This place is so delish and so cute I can’t stand it!  BaoQi is a tiny Vietnamese restaurant that opened not too long ago at 620 Davie Street (near Granville) in Vancouver and they have two impressive vegan options on their menu – Tofu Banh Mi ($4.50) and Vegan Cuon Rolls (5 rice paper rolls for $5).

The banh mi is almost a foot long, stuffed with lemongrass tofu, daikon, cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrots, and jalapenos that add a good amount of spice (might want to ask for less if you’re not into spicy).

The rolls are equally flavourful, stuffed with vermicelli, lettuce, sprouts, mint, chives and garlic tofu steak. Served with a spicy peanut sauce. YUM!

With such great value, delicious vegan options and friendly service, the VP girls have been to BaoQi many times since it opened.  Haven’t stayed in the restaurant to eat yet, but it’s got a warm and inviting atmosphere with a long table and charmingly authentic decor.  Highly recommended.
