Totally Radical Pizza with Homemade Sauce

I was watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the other day and realized how long it’s been since I had a good slice of pizza. So I pulled my sprouted grain tortillas out of the freezer, grabbed a couple juicy tomatoes and got to work on a homemade pizza sauce that I found in raw executive chef Ani Phyo’s ‘Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen’. When it was ready, I warmed it quickly in hopes of preserving all the enzymes. This recipe is raw for the most part, sufficiently filling, and totally righteous!

Ingredients for Sauce:

2 cups of tomatoes, chopped

1 clove of garlic

1/2 cup of fresh basil leaves

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

juice of 1/2 lime (or lemon)

1 tsp pitted dates

1 tsp oregano, ideally fresh but…

1/2 tsp rosemary, ground

1 tsp sea salt

3 tbsp sun-dried tomatoes

Method for Sauce: (there will be leftovers if you’re only making one pizza)

Add all ingredients except the sun-dried tomatoes until smooth. Add the sun-dried tomatoes and blend until mixed well.

Ingredients for pizza: (makes one)

1 Ezekiel Sprouted Grain tortilla

1/4 avocado, sliced

about 1/4 cup of broccoli florets, small

3-4 thin slices of tomato

3-4 super thin slices of onion (i used white, but red would be nice)

1 tbsp of pumpkin seeds

2 tbsp hemp hearts

sprouts of choice

1 tbsp daiya cheese

Method for Pizza:

Spread a generous amount of the sauce over the tortilla, and sprinkle 1/2 the hemp hearts on the sauce. Add avocado, onion and tomato. Sprinkle the sprouts, rest of hemp hearts and pumpkin seeds on the top, and finish with the daiya. Crack some sea salt and pepper on top, warm to your liking, and enjoy. It’s totally radical dude…whatever happened to the heroes in a half-shell anyways??
