World Wide Vegan Bake Sale at Karmavore!
Above: Our Bertie! (And yes, that’s drool)
On April 23 through May 1, groups from across the world will hold vegan bake sales. Each participating group gets to choose its venue, what to sell, and how it uses the proceeds. In 2009, the first year of the event, nearly a hundred groups participated and raised over $25,000 for a variety of causes. In 2010, even more participants, on six continents, raised over $40,000 for their causes.
This year, your favourite vegan store and mine, Karmavore, will be hosting The World Wide Vegan Bake Sale for the lower mainland on Saturday April 23rd. The event will take place from 11am-3pm and will be raising money for the Vancouver Orphaned Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA), which is especially dear to our hearts as that’s where we got our beloved Bertie from!
On that same Saturday, they’re hosting a “Meet the Artist” and Trunk Sale featuring Janna Hurtzig, creator of Astrosatchel. Janna will be at the shop as well and is offering 15% off of all Astrosatchel items!
If you would like to participate in the bake sale and/or volunteer your time to help out, you can sign up online, in the shop or simply contact Karmavore at info@karmavore.ca.
